Both groups I spoke to &#8211; KS2 and KS3 students from various different schools in the area &#8211; were enthusiastic and charming. The video presentations by students on which books they thought should win were brilliant and the quizzes were ace, but the biggest thrill for me was witnessing the way these young readers discussed the shortlisted books &#8211; in depth and detail, and with passion. It was a great day and I was honoured to be involved.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another thing that made me happy today: a road sign I spotted near <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Forest_Gate_railway_station\"><strong>Forest Gate station<\/strong><\/a> on my journey to the event&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-232    aligncenter\" title=\"SamSays\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theycrawl.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SamSays.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"458\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theycrawl.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SamSays.jpg 458w, http:\/\/www.theycrawl.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/SamSays-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hee hee hee!<\/p>\n<p>Sam<\/p>\n<p>PS: My thanks to everyone who was there at <strong>Freedom of Expression <\/strong>for my reading of <strong>Family<\/strong> on Tuesday night.
